Gankly

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

Gankly (“we”, “our”, or “the Service”) is an independent web application providing League of Legends match statistics and gameplay analytics. This Policy explains what information may be processed when you use the Service, why it is processed, and how it may be stored.

1. Information We Process

Depending on how you use the Service and the configuration of its hosting infrastructure, the following information may be processed:

2. How Information Is Used

Information may be used to retrieve and display requested statistics, calculate aggregate statistical summaries, cache results, maintain and secure the Service, diagnose errors, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations. The Service may process game data beyond a single search to generate aggregate statistics. Any automated collection and retention must comply with applicable Riot Games policies and API restrictions.

3. Data Sources

Game information is obtained from Riot Games APIs and other authorized game-data resources, where applicable. Gankly does not ask users for their Riot account password. Riot Games and other third-party providers process information under their own policies.

4. Storage and Retention

In server memory (lost on restart): responses received from Riot, which include Riot IDs of players in the displayed matches, are cached for between 2 minutes and 1 hour; a “player not found” result is cached for 5 minutes; summaries and images used for sharing cards (see section 14) are cached for up to 30 and 15 minutes. In the database: the aggregate match statistics described above are kept until removed (for example, when older game patches are cleaned up) and the work queue as described in section 1. The application's own logs contain operational messages and errors and are not designed to record Riot IDs or IP addresses; hosting and tunnel providers may keep their own connection logs.

Some game data and statistical results may be stored in a database to support the Service and statistical analysis. Technical logs may be retained as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting, and operation. Actual retention periods depend on the data type, operational needs, applicable law, and Riot Games policies. Information should be removed when no longer needed, subject to lawful retention requirements.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process information as necessary to operate the Service. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to address security incidents or abuse. The Service is not intended to operate as a data-broker service.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Service itself does not set cookies. Your browser's local storage (not sent to the server) keeps interface preferences: the region you last selected, whether the champion statistics block is collapsed, the language you chose, and whether you dismissed the notice about this. You can delete them in your browser settings. The Service's hosting infrastructure may use essential cookies or similar technologies if required for functionality or security. If analytics or other non-essential tracking technologies are introduced, this Policy should be updated and any legally required consent obtained.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on or links to third-party services, including Riot Games (game data through its API, and champion, item and profile images loaded by your browser from Riot's Data Dragon at ddragon.leagueoflegends.com), the jsDelivr content delivery network (the charting library loaded by your browser), the tunnel/hosting providers that carry traffic to the Service, and, if you choose to support the project, the payment or donation service you are redirected to. When your browser loads content from these services, they receive your IP address and request details. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control the privacy practices of third parties.

8. Your Choices and Privacy Requests

You may stop using the Service at any time. For questions or requests concerning information processed directly by Gankly, contact the operator using the contact details published on the website. Requests will be reviewed and handled as required by applicable law. Some information may need to be retained where legally required or otherwise permitted.

If you want your player identifier removed, email the address in section 13 with your Riot ID and region. We will remove the identifier from the work queue and add it to an exclusion list so that it is not added again; the exclusion list stores only a one-way hash, not the identifier or the Riot ID. Aggregate match rows cannot be matched to an individual, so they cannot be removed one by one and remain as anonymous gameplay data. Cached copies in server memory expire as described in section 4.

9. Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures should be used to protect information handled by the Service. No online service or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not designed to knowingly collect personal information directly from children. If you believe information has been submitted inappropriately, contact the operator using the details published on the website.

11. International Processing

Hosting or infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Applicable legal requirements for international transfers should be observed.

12. Changes to This Policy

This Policy may be updated to reflect changes to the Service, data-handling practices, or legal requirements. The current version and revision date will be published on this page.

13. Contact

For privacy-related inquiries, please contact us at info.gankly@gmail.com.

14. Sharing Links and Preview Cards

A player page can be shared through a link that contains the Riot ID and region. When the link is opened or pasted into a messenger or social network, the Service may generate a preview image (win rate, KDA, ranked tier, recent games and top champions) based on the same public game data. Those platforms download and may store the image and link text on their own servers under their own policies, and we cannot remove their copies. Player pages ask search engines not to index them.

15. Desktop App and Overlay

Gankly also offers an optional Windows desktop app with an in-game overlay. It is a separate program with its own license agreement, shown when you install it. While you are in champion select or a match, the app reads from your own League client who is in your game and sends the Service, for each player, the Riot ID, the region and the champion picked. The Service uses this to return that player's rank and recent ranked results and, for your own champion, recommended runes and items based on aggregate statistics. The Service handles these requests like a search: the Riot ID and the responses are kept in server memory only for the periods in section 4, and the player's identifier (PUUID) may be added to the work queue described in section 1. Apart from the technical data in section 1, the Service does not store Riot IDs or the composition of your lobby. The app keeps its settings and a short error log (overlay.log) only on your computer and does not send them to the Service. The app uses only the names that the League client itself shows you; it does not reveal players the game keeps hidden. Removal from the work queue is available as described in section 8.

16. Voluntary Support

If you choose to support the project, the contribution is made through a third-party payment or donation service, not through the Service itself. That provider acts under its own terms and privacy policy and collects what it needs to process the payment, for example payment details, name, email address, country and any message you add. We do not receive or store your payment card details. The provider may also set its own cookies; see its policy.

We may receive from the provider limited information about the contribution, such as the amount, date, a transaction reference and, if you provide it, your name or email address and message. We use it only to confirm the contribution, thank you if you wish, keep accounting and tax records, and handle questions or refunds. We do not link contributions to Riot IDs, player identifiers (PUUID) or match statistics, and supporting the project does not change what data the Service processes about your searches or games.

Records of contributions are kept as long as reasonably necessary for accounting, tax and legal obligations. If you contact us about a contribution, we use your email address only to reply. Your rights over data held by the payment provider are exercised with that provider.
